A public link lets anyone who has it view your deck. Business collaboration gives named SlidesMate account holders access with an editor, commenter or viewer role. You can keep a deck private while working with named collaborators.
Turn a public viewing link on or off
- Open your saved presentation from the dashboard.
- As the owner, select Share in the editor toolbar to open Share Presentation.
- Turn on Public link.
- Use Copy public presentation link, or select and copy the displayed URL manually if clipboard access fails.
- Send the copied link to your audience. It uses the path
/p/followed by the presentation ID.
Viewers do not need to sign in to open an enabled public link. Public viewing does not give them permission to edit the deck. The public-link switch is separate from the Business collaboration feature; you do not need Business just to enable public viewing.
To stop public viewing, return to Share and turn Public link off. The public URL then stops serving the presentation. This does not remove copies or screenshots someone has already saved, and it does not remove named collaborators.
Keep Public link off for material you intend to share only with named collaborators. Review the security page before sharing sensitive content.
Add a teammate on Business
The presentation owner's active Business plan enables collaboration. Your teammate must already have a SlidesMate account; this flow adds that account directly rather than sending a signup invitation email.
- Open Share as the presentation owner.
- Enter the email address used by your teammate's SlidesMate account.
- Choose Editor, Commenter or Viewer.
- Select the add-person button beside the role selector.
- Confirm that the teammate appears in the collaborator list, then send them the editor URL for that deck. It uses
/editor?id=followed by the presentation ID.
The teammate must sign in to the account you added. An Editor can change slides and comment. A Commenter can comment without changing slides. A Viewer can view without editing or commenting. Public viewing links remain a separate way to view the deck without signing in.
If you see Invite teammates with Business, the deck does not currently have Business collaboration enabled. Use View Business plan to review the plans. Collaborator access depends on the owner's plan, rather than requiring every collaborator to buy Business.
Change or remove access
As the owner, use the role selector beside a collaborator in Share to change their role. Use the remove control beside their email to remove their named access. If public viewing remains enabled, they can still view through the public URL like anyone else with that link.
If adding someone fails, check that they have created an account and that you entered its email correctly. If they are already listed, change the existing role rather than adding them again.
When the owner's Business entitlement ends, named collaborator access is no longer available, even if entries remain in the list. Public links are controlled separately. See billing and cancellation for access after a subscription ends, or exports to send a downloaded copy.
