Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SlidesMate ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SlidesMate is an AI-powered presentation creation platform that generates slide decks from text prompts. The Service includes a web editor, template library, AI generation capabilities, and export functionality.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as necessary. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Content Ownership and License

You retain full ownership of all content you create using SlidesMate, including presentations, text, images, and any derivative works. By using the Service, you grant SlidesMate a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or close your account. We do not claim any ownership over your content, do not use your presentations to train AI models, and will not share your content with third parties except as strictly necessary to deliver the Service (e.g., forwarding your prompt to the AI provider). You represent that you have the right to use any content you upload, including images, quotes, and data.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, fraudulent, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise probe the Service's underlying code or infrastructure except as permitted by law.
  • Exceed documented rate limits (100 AI generations/month on Free, 500 on Plus, 2000 on Pro), abuse the API, or use automated tools to scrape or overload the Service.
  • Resell, sublicense, white-label, or redistribute the Service or any portion thereof without a separate written agreement with SlidesMate.
  • Use the Service to generate content intended to deceive, manipulate, or harm others, including deepfakes, impersonation materials, or disinformation.

6. Pricing, Billing, and Refunds

Free accounts are subject to monthly usage limits (3 presentations per month) and may include watermarks on exports. Paid plans (Plus at $8/mo, Pro at $16/mo) are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. Subscription fees are non-refundable except: (a) within 7 days of your first paid subscription if you have not used any AI credits; (b) where required by applicable law. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then, with no further charges. We may update pricing with 30 days advance notice to existing subscribers.

7. Service Level and Availability

We target 99.5% monthly uptime for the core Service, measured excluding scheduled maintenance windows (announced at least 48 hours in advance). In the event of extended unplanned downtime (more than 4 hours in a single incident on a paid plan), contact support@slidesmate.com to request a service credit on your next invoice. AI generation features depend on third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) and their availability — we cannot guarantee specific AI provider uptime. Critical bugs affecting core functionality are typically addressed within 24 hours.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SlidesMate's total liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, business, or goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. You are responsible for maintaining backups of your important content.

9. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your access to the Service ends immediately, and your personal data will be deleted within 30 days per our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, including for repeated abuse of rate limits, generation of prohibited content, or non-payment. We will provide at least 14 days' notice for non-urgent terminations and may terminate immediately for material breaches. Upon termination, Sections 4 (license granted to us survives for content we have already processed), 8 (Limitation of Liability), and 10 (Governing Law) survive.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, with the arbitration taking place in Delaware. You and SlidesMate each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in class actions. This arbitration provision does not prevent either party from seeking injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email and display a prominent notice in the app at least 30 days before changes take effect. Non-material changes (typos, clarifications) may take effect immediately. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to changes, you may terminate your account before they take effect.
