1. Information We Collect

When you use SlidesMate, we may collect the following information:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Presentation content: Text, images, and files you upload to generate presentations.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and session duration.
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve our AI presentation generation service.
  • To process your presentations and deliver exports.
  • To communicate with you about your account and our services.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve user experience.
  • To prevent fraud and ensure platform security.

3. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Presentation content is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Access to production systems requires two-factor authentication and is limited to authorized engineering personnel. We maintain audit logs of all data access, perform regular security reviews, and follow the OWASP Top 10 framework for application security. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your presentation content to train AI models.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Presentations are stored until you delete them or close your account. Upon account deletion, we permanently remove your personal data within 30 days, with backups purged within 90 days. You can export all your presentations as PPTX or PDF files at any time before deletion. We retain anonymized usage data (e.g., aggregated analytics) for up to 24 months for service improvement purposes. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@slidesmate.com.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party providers to deliver our service: OpenAI and Anthropic (for AI generation, bound by their respective data processing agreements — see openai.com/privacy and anthropic.com/privacy), Stripe (payment processing, PCI DSS Level 1 certified), Vercel (hosting infrastructure, SOC 2 Type II certified), PostHog (product analytics — you can opt out), and better-auth for authentication. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements, which we review before integration. We do not share your presentation content with any provider beyond what is strictly necessary to deliver the service you requested (e.g., sending your prompt to the AI provider to generate slides).

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

If you are located in the European Union, you have rights under GDPR including: access to your data, rectification of inaccurate data, erasure (right to be forgotten), restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. If you are a California resident, you have rights under CCPA/CPRA including: the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising). To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@slidesmate.com. We will respond within 30 days for GDPR requests and 45 days for CCPA requests.

7. International Data Transfers

SlidesMate is operated from the United States, and your data may be processed on servers located in the US and the European Union. For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the legal mechanism for international data transfers. We implement additional safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, and we review the adequacy of data protection in destination countries periodically.

8. Children's Privacy

SlidesMate is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under the applicable age has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. Educational institutions using SlidesMate with students under 13 must obtain parental consent in compliance with COPPA and equivalent laws.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service features. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email (to the address associated with your account) and display a prominent notice in the app at least 30 days before changes take effect. Your continued use of SlidesMate after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
