SlidesMate started because building decks was the most time-consuming part of every job we'd held — sales pitches, board reviews, conference talks, training programs. The fundamental work (deciding the message) is creative; the execution (formatting, layout, exporting) is mechanical. We built SlidesMate to compress the mechanical part from hours to minutes so the creative work gets the time it deserves. The team includes engineers from Google, Stripe, and Microsoft, plus product designers from Atlassian and Figma — but most importantly, people who have presented to skeptical executives, raised funding rounds, and sat through bad workshops, and who are tired of slide formatting being a tax on every meaningful conversation.

We ship feature updates weekly. Current focus areas: deeper PowerPoint compatibility (animations, charts), better collaboration features (comments, real-time editing), and expanded Markdown API capabilities (more themes, advanced layouts). We don't publish dated commitments because software estimates are usually wrong, but the trajectory is toward making AI generation work for more presentation types.
